The bristles themselves are derived from a plant-based material, castor bean oil, meaning they are free of petroleum or other plastic byproducts. Each toothbrush tip is dipped in a water-based paint to protect it from moisture (and to help you distinguish your toothbrush from the other members in your household).

When shipped to you, toothbrushes and heads arrive with minimal packaging – a simple paper box for the toothbrushes and a paper baggie for the replaceable heads.
