A few years ago, if you wanted a toothbrush with your brand on it, you needed to order ten thousand units and wait three months. The minimums were designed for big retail chains, not independent wellness brands, dental practices, or hotel groups. That’s changed.
We make bamboo toothbrushes at a factory in China and have been doing it since 2012. We work with small brands and large ones. Here’s the honest version of how private label bamboo toothbrushes actually work — what’s possible, what the real minimums are, and what to watch out for.
- What “private label” actually means for a toothbrush
- Your two main customization options
- Minimum order quantities — the real numbers
- The ordering process from first contact to delivery

What “private label” actually means for a bamboo toothbrush
Private label means you’re selling a product under your own brand name, made by someone else’s factory. It’s not unique to toothbrushes — it’s how most physical products in the world are made. The factory has a proven product; you bring the brand and the distribution.
For bamboo toothbrushes specifically, “private label” can mean a few different things depending on what you’re after:
- Your logo on the handle — laser-engraved or printed, so every brush carries your brand name or mark
- Your branding on the packaging — custom kraft paper box with your colors, logo, and copy
- Custom specification — specific bristle hardness, handle finish, or color for the bristle tips
- Full OEM — for larger orders, custom molds and shapes are possible, though that’s a different conversation
For most small-to-medium brands, the first two options — logo on handle and custom packaging — cover everything they need.
Your two main customization options
Option 1: Laser-engraved logo on the bamboo handle
This is the most popular option and the one we’d recommend for most buyers starting out. Your logo, brand name, or a short tagline is engraved permanently into the bamboo handle. Not printed on (which can fade), not stickered on (which can peel) — carved in with a laser.
The result looks clean, premium, and permanent. It’s the same technique used on luxury wooden products. Customers notice it; generic printed handles don’t create the same impression.
What you need to supply: a logo file in AI, PDF, or high-resolution PNG format. We send back a digital mockup for your approval before any production begins. No surprises.
Minimum order for engraved handle: 100 pieces.
We set this deliberately low. A small yoga studio wanting 100 brushes for their retreat, a dentist ordering a first batch of 150 for their clinic, a small eco brand testing the market — all of these are viable orders. You don’t need to commit to thousands to see whether your customers respond well.
Option 2: Fully custom printed paper box packaging
If you want the full branded experience — the kind where someone opens a parcel and immediately knows whose product it is — custom packaging is where the investment goes. We use kraft paper for all our boxes: FSC-certified, fully recyclable, and the material most eco-conscious brands want to be associated with.
Your box can carry your full branding: logo, color scheme, tagline, product information, website, QR code, certifications. We do digital proofs before production so you can sign off on exactly what you’re getting.
Minimum order for custom box packaging: 500 pieces.
The economics of custom printing make smaller runs costly per unit, which is why 500 is the threshold. Most buyers doing custom boxes are either running a product line, stocking a retail area, or buying quarterly — 500 pieces over 3 months for a busy practice or a hotel group is a manageable volume.
The real minimums — and what affects unit cost
Let’s be concrete:
| Option | Minimum Order | Lead Time (production) |
|---|---|---|
| Engraved logo on handle | 100 pcs | 5–7 business days |
| Custom printed paper box | 500 pcs | 8–12 business days |
| Engraved handle + custom box | 500 pcs | 8–12 business days |
Unit cost decreases meaningfully as order volume increases. We’re not going to publish a price list here because currency fluctuations and shipping costs vary — but we’ll respond to any inquiry with a specific quote within 24 hours. Get in touch here.
Shipping adds time on top of production. We offer:
- Air freight: 7–10 business days, door-to-door to your address
- Sea freight: 25–30 business days, door-to-door — better unit economics for large orders
The process: first contact to brushes in your hands
It’s simpler than most people expect. Here’s what happens:
- You get in touch — tell us what you want (engraved handle, custom box, or both), approximate quantity, and your timeline
- We send you a quote — within 24 hours, including production and shipping options
- Request a sample — we’d strongly recommend this before committing to a bulk order. Sample shipments go air freight and arrive within 10 days in most cases
- Submit your logo/design files — once you’re happy with the sample and the quote, send us your artwork
- Approve the digital proof — we’ll mock up exactly how your branding looks on the product/packaging and send it for sign-off before anything goes into production
- Production begins — once proof is approved and deposit is confirmed
- Shipment and delivery — door-to-door, with tracking throughout
The whole process from first contact to delivery is typically 3–5 weeks for air freight orders, or 6–8 weeks for sea freight. Plan accordingly if you have a launch date or seasonal deadline.
Certifications: what the market actually requires
If you’re selling in the US or EU, certifications matter — both for your own compliance and because your customers increasingly ask about them.
Our bamboo toothbrushes come with:
- FDA compliance — materials meet US Food and Drug Administration safety standards. Essential if you’re distributing to US consumers, particularly important if you’re in healthcare or if children are using the product.
- FSC certification — our bamboo is sourced from responsibly managed forests. If your brand makes environmental claims (which it probably will if you’re selling bamboo toothbrushes), FSC is the credible backing for those claims.
- DuPont Nylon 1010 material certificate — documentation confirming our plant-based bristle material. Available on request — useful if your customers are ingredient-conscious or if you want to make “plant-based bristle” claims in your marketing.
All certification documentation is available on request. We provide it as part of standard onboarding for B2B buyers. If a supplier won’t show you their certs, that’s a red flag worth paying attention to.
Who actually orders private label bamboo toothbrushes
The range is wider than you might expect. Here are the common use cases we see:
- Eco and wellness brands adding a toothbrush to their product line — sometimes as a standalone product, sometimes as part of a bathroom starter kit
- Dental clinics and orthodontic practices — custom-branded brushes for new patient welcome kits, replacing generic plastic giveaways
- Hotels and hospitality — eco amenity programs that want to move away from single-use plastic toiletries without sacrificing the branded feel
- Health and wellness subscription boxes — bamboo toothbrushes are a natural fit for zero-waste or clean living subscription products
- Wedding and event favors — more common than you’d think, particularly for eco-themed celebrations (100-piece minimum is ideal for this)
- Corporate gifting — companies with sustainability commitments building ESG-aligned gift sets
- Pharmacies and health food retailers doing private label ranges
The connecting thread is usually a brand that genuinely cares about what their products are made from, and wants to offer customers something better than a petroleum-based plastic toothbrush. If that’s you, we can work with you. Read a little about who we are, and then get in touch.
Questions to ask any supplier before you commit
Whether you work with us or someone else, these are the questions that separate reliable manufacturers from the ones that will create problems for you down the line:
- “Can I see your FDA and FSC documentation?” — a serious supplier has this ready; if they hesitate or can’t produce it, move on.
- “Can I order a sample before committing to a bulk order?” — any factory confident in their product will say yes. Red flag if they push you to commit without sampling.
- “What exactly are the bristles made of?” — ask for the specific material name and grade, not just “nylon” or “eco bristle.” If they don’t know, that tells you something about their supply chain knowledge.
- “Can I see a digital proof before production begins?” — for custom branding especially, you want sign-off before manufacturing, not after.
- “What happens if there’s a quality issue with my order?” — know the policy before it’s relevant.
We’re happy to answer all of these. If you’re comparing suppliers, we’d rather lose to someone genuinely better than to someone who said what you wanted to hear and delivered something different. Browse our range here or contact us for a quote.
