Q1. What is Nylon 1010 and why is it better than regular nylon bristles?
Nylon 1010 (also known as PA1010) is a bio-based polyamide derived primarily from castor oil, a renewable plant source. Unlike conventional nylon 6 or nylon 66 — which are made from petroleum — Nylon 1010 has a significantly lower carbon footprint and does not rely on fossil fuels. It maintains the same durability, flexibility, and dental performance as standard nylon, while being the most sustainable bristle material currently available at commercial scale.
Q2. Are the bristles fully biodegradable?
The Nylon 1010 bristles are bio-based but not fully biodegradable under normal conditions — they should still be removed before composting the bamboo handle. However, compared to petroleum nylon, they have a substantially lower environmental impact at every stage of the product lifecycle, from raw material sourcing to end-of-life disposal.
Q3. Is the bamboo handle safe and antibacterial?
Yes. We use Moso bamboo from FSC-certified, sustainably managed forests. Bamboo contains a natural bio-agent called “bamboo kun” that gives it inherent antibacterial properties — without any chemical treatment. The handle is smooth, durable, and free from pesticides or synthetic coatings.
